Belgium vs Portugal – Euro 2020

    Euro 2020 – Sunday 27th June 20.00

It’s Belgium vs Portugal in the Round of 16 at Euro 2020. We take a look at the stats and best football tips.

Belgium play Portugal on Sunday in a massive Round of 16 clash with both sides among the favourites to win the tournament. These two last played each other in a friendly in 2018 that finish 0-0. Portugal won the three previous head to head matches.

The bookies rate Belgium 29/20 to win, the draw at 11/5 and Portugal at 2/1.

Belgium won all three group games, beating Russia 3-0, Denmark 2-1 and Finland 2-0. Portugal beat Hungary 3-0, lost 2-4 to Germany and then drew 2-2 with France in their final game.

    Belgium – PL 3 | Won 3 | GF 7 | GA 1

The Belgians have been in excellent form and managed to win all three group games and only concede one goal. They do keep clean sheets against the lesser sides and concede against a better quality of opposition though. They have Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard coming back to fitness at the right team and with Romelu Lukaku in form have a lethal attack to call upon. Belgium come into this game without really being tested so far and i’m not sure if that will leave them fresh or undercooked.

    Portugal – PL 3 | Won 1 | GF 7 | GA 6

It’s been a mixed bag from Portugal, they have been excellent in attack but have conceded 6 goals in 3 games. They have struggled for balance and Bruno Fernandes dropped out against France and may well miss out again. The 2-2 draw with France was a positive but you have to question the desire of a French team that had already qualified. The 2-4 loss to Germany may be a better gauge and that’s not a Germany side that has been firing on all cylinders either. Any team that has Cristiano Ronaldo is always in with a shout and he has hit 5 goals in the group stages.

    Key Stats (Average Per Match)

    • Shots – 8
    • Shots on Target – 4
    • Corners – 4
    • Cards – 0.3
    • Tackles – 13

    • Raphaël Guerreiro – 1 goal in 3 appearances & 0.33 SOT per 90
    • Diogo Jota – 1 goal in 3 appearances & 1.07 SOT per 90

Betting Tips: Both teams are better going forwards and i would be surprised if we don’t see goals here. Neither team has great stats for cards or corners but do make a decent number of shots and tackles.
