Weekend Preview – Best Tips 20/08
Here we preview the best of Friday’s and the weekends matches including debuts for Messi, Lukaku and Jose Mourinho.
Brest vs PSG | Ligue 1
Friday 20th August – 20.00pm
PSG are unbeaten in 9 against Brest, winning 8 of those with PSG winning the most recent fixture 2-0. The away side have won their opening two matches whilst Brest have drawn both of theirs. Those two draws came against Lyon and Rennes, two good teams. PSG have scored five goals in the first half of their opening two games and only one in the second half.
That makes PSG highest scoring half – 1st half @ 7/4 look great value.
Liverpool vs Burnley | Premier League
Saturday 21st August 12.30pm
Liverpool won their opening match 3-0 against Norwich, whilst Burnley lost 1-2 to Brighton. The home side also beat Burnley 3-0 in the previous fixture between the two sides but odds of 1/5 on a Liverpool win do seem low. As FPL fans will know Salah has a poor record against Burnley but he does usually get chances so that may be about to change.
Liverpool won 11 corners in the opening round of Premier League fixtures whilst Burnley won 7.
Brighton vs Watford | Premier League
Saturday 21st August 17.30pm
Whilst not exactly the most glamourous of ties for the evening kick off there is some decent value to keep us entertained. Brighton won their opening game 1-2 and Watford won theirs 3-2. These two met back in February 2020 and played out a 1-1 draw.
Those results make odds of 11/10 for Both teams to score look very generous.
Bilbao vs Barcelona | La Liga
Saturday 21st August 21.00pm
Barcelona won their last game against Sociedad 4-2 and are certainly better going forward than defensively. Bilbao drew 0-0 with Elche but i would still expect them to score against this Barcelona side and they did in the previous fixture between the two which ended 2-1 to Barcelona. The away side have seen all five of their last five feature three or more goals.
Arsenal vs Chelsea | Premier League
Sunday 22nd August 16.30pm
This promises to be a cracking tie and both sides come into this in opposing form. Chelsea played well during a 3-0 win against Crystal Palace and look to be improving all the time under Thomas Tuchel. The goals of new signing Romelu Lukaku should make a big difference to a side lacking a goalscorer. Arsenal on the other hand lost 2-0 to Brentford and appear to be making some odd transfer decisions spending £150 million without really improving the side but i do expect them to be up for this game.
Arsenal won 5 corners in their previous game and so did Chelsea.
Therefore Each team over 3 corners at 4/5 appeals.
Roma vs Fiorentina | Serie A
Sunday 22nd August 19.45pm
Lastly we head to Italy for Jose Mourinho’s first Serie A match as Roma manager. Roma won the previous fixture 2-1 and are unbeaten in 6 against Fiorentina. Roma have conceded in 3 of their last 4 so Mourinho hasn’t got them up to his defensive standards yet.
Roma to win & 3 or more goals at 6/4 looks a good bet for Mourinho to start the season with 3 points.
